Front Sight Rail Adapter

About this project

An AK backsight replacement Picatinny rail adapter design I worked on. This position allows installation of sights further forward which can be beneficial for red dot or holographic sights. It also allows the left side of the rifle to remain flat reducing chance of it catching onto your chest rig and allows installation of optics on AKs that do not have a side rail.

The design also incorporates a fixed backup back sight. The current design does not allow installation of most magnified optics due to the forward position not placing the scope in a good position unless the optic has a very generous eye relief.

The part is to be machined in two stages, the second stage involves flipping the part and clamping it into a specifically designed holder.

Made using Blender and Aspire.
